OFFICER CHRISTOPHER AHEARN
Officer Ahearn's performance has been consistently outstanding in the Cherry Hill OPS Squad. He is the primary OIC and leads the Cherry Hill squad in quality arrests while maintaining supervision of his officers.
He is a most respectful, self motivated, dedicated, and loyal officer who gets the job done where the rubber meets the road. During the month of August 2008, Officer Ahearn made 21 arrests to include (4) felony CDS arrests, (6) Misdemeanor CDS arrests, (2) warrant arrests, (2) traffic arrests, (4)
other misdemeanor arrests and (3) hand gun arrests.
On August 22nd Officer Ahearn arrested Gerald Allen, M/B, 1/22/92 for a shooting in the Cherry Hill area. A Search and seizure warrant was executed at 2827 Carver Road in which the 22 caliber handgun used in the shooting was seized with 3.5 OZ of heroin as an additional bonus. Marcel Clay, M/B, 4/14/72 was also arrested in the raid and charged. No bail status on either.
On August 5th he executed a search and seizure warrant at 1822 Byrd Street where a small amount of cocaine and illegal pills were seized with 5 arrests which was a responce to a community complaint.
On August 22nd Officer Ahearn participated in another search and seizure warrant at 2324 Sidney Aveenue where a HK 40 caliber Smith & Wesson was seized with the arrest of Matthew Jones, M/B, 4/20/87.
In conclusion, Officer Ahearn gives 110 percent total effort in combating violent crime in his assigned area and his work ethic is second to none.

DETECTIVE WILLIAM BAILEY
Detective Bailey hold a 75% clearance rate for robbery investigations. The national average for a robbery detective is 19% clearance rate. This 75% clearance rate is the higest for any robbery detective in the city. Detective Bailey's cases are primarily in Sector 4 (the South Baltimore Peninsula). He also handled a high profile attempted murder case on Preakness night that involved 5 victims and 6 suspects. Numerous search & Seizure warrants were executed for houses, vehicles and suspects for DNA evidence.
Detective Bailey uses a combination of old school policing such as conducting surveillance in our problem areas, talking to people to hear what they have to say, maximizing the art of interrogation, to contemorary methods such as DNA evidence, video surveillance enhancement and cell phone call tracking.
Detective Bailey has been a member of the police department for 6 years. 4 1/2 of those have been in the Southern District and 1 1/2 years in the detective unit.
He became a police officer after serving proudly for 25 years in the US Air Force, retiring with an honorable discharge. He is married with 4 children.
